BUSINESS HOURS
The Auditors Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

WHERE WE ARE LOCATED
The County Auditor's office is located in the Roseau County Courthouse in the Room 160 Office Suites.

WHAT WE DO
The Auditor in Roseau County, Anne K. Granitz, is an elected official. The responsibilities of the department of Auditor include the following:

PROPERTY RECORDS and TAXATION
  • Calculates proposed and final tax rates and taxes due based on the levy request certified by the county, cities, townships, school districts, and special taxing districts
  • Maintains the tax roll through updates to property ownership, splits and combinations, and transfers
  • Prepares the Truth in Taxation notices and Property Tax Statements for every taxable real and personal property in the county
  • Maintains special assessments for the county, cities, townships and special taxing districts and applies payments for collection
  • Administers ditch assessments for the county
  • Administers Tax Increment Financing and JOBZ as it pertains to tax calculation
  • Prepares tax certificates and tax searches
  • Provides tax record information to realtors and mortgage companies
  • Conducts Tax Forfeited Land Sales on behalf of the county

ACCOUNTING and BUDGET

  • Serves as the central accounting office for the county
  • Provides for the timely and accurate financial information that is provided to the many internal and external users
  • Processes the accounts payable for most funds and the revenues for all funds
  • Coordinates and prepares the annual budget
  • Coordinates the annual audit activities
  • Prepares financial statement summary for publication
  • Coordinates and compiles listing of fixed assets
  • Coordinates risk management and insurance records for the county

PAYROLL and BENEFITS

  • Processes payroll for all county departments
  • Maintains payroll system database
  • Administers employee benefits

ELECTION ADMINISTRATION

  • Serves as Chief Election Office for the county
  • Oversees voter registration and maintains the State Voter Registration system data base for Roseau County
  • Receives candidate filings
  • Oversees campaign finance reporting
  • Conducts absentee voting for State, Federal, and County elections
  • Trains election judges, head judges, and health care facility judges
  • Orders ballots and supplies for all precincts
  • Prepares ballots
  • Conducts public accuracy tests for election equipment
  • Compiles election results
  • Provides election related information to the public for State, Federal, and Local elections
  • Conducts canvass of State, Federal, and County elections

LICENSING

  • Issues licenses for retail sales of liquor, beer, and tobacco; transient merchants; and auctioneers

SCHOOL RECORDS

The Auditor's Office was made the custodian of the old school records when the position of County Superintendent of Schools was eliminated. Information from these records is requested and used by individuals to qualify for Social Security, to prepare for school reunions, and family history.
