WHERE WE ARE LOCATED
The County
Recorder's Office is
located in the Roseau County
Courthouse in the Room 170.
WHAT WE DO
Records, indexes and maintains
over 150 different types of legal
documents. Creates Certificates of
Title for registered land. Provides
information and copies of recorded
documents to the public and
preserves all information and
documents through images and stores
images off site.
The County Recorder budgets all
necessary budgetary items that the
Recorder’s Office will be needing to
properly record all documents and
document types according to
Minnesota Statutes.
- Record all documents
pertaining to real property
located within Roseau County,
image as a TIF image and indexed
in both an AS400 environment and
in a local Citrix Server
environment.
- File Uniform Commercial Code
Documents presented to Roseau
County Recorders Office pursuant
to Revised Article 9.
- Record all Military
Discharges presented and provide
Certified Copies with Request
Form.
- Passport Applications.
- Prepare and Certify Owners
and Encumbrance Reports on
individual tracts of land.
- Make Certified Copies of all
documents recorded upon request
and upon payment of the fee.
- Assist the Public when doing
research for the purchase of
land or for genealogy purposes.

STANDARDS FOR DOCUMENTS TO BE
RECORDED OR FILED
(IN PART)
a) The following standards are
imposed on documents to be recorded
with the county recorder or filed
with the registrar of titles:
- The document shall consist
of one or more individual sheets
measuring no larger than 8.5
inches by 14 inches.
- The form of the document
shall be printed, typewritten,
or computer generated in black
ink and the form of the document
shall not be smaller than
8-point type.
- The document shall be on
white paper of not less than
20-pound weight with no
background color, images or
writing and shall have a clear
border of approximately one-half
inch on the top, bottom and each
side.
- The first page of the
document shall contain a blank
space at the top measuring three
inches, as measured from the top
of the page. The right half to
be used by the county recorder
for recording information or the
registrar of titles for filing
information and the left half to
be used by the county auditor or
treasurer for certification.
- The title of the document
shall be prominently displayed
at the top of the first page
below the blank space referred
to in clause (4).
- No additional sheet shall be
attached or affixed to a page
that covers up any information
or printed part of the form.
- A document presented for
recording or filing must be
sufficiently legible to
reproduce a readable copy using
the county recorder's or
registrar of title's current
method of reproduction.
